Mark Alexander, PhD is a retired research scientist at the Division of Research (DOR) Kaiser Permanente Northern California. He is the former Assistant Director of the Medical Effectiveness Research Center for Diverse Populations, University of California at San Francisco. He is an epidemiologist who is committed to improving health outcomes of marginalized communities. Of particular interest to him are the effects of racism and social class on health. Dr. Alexander is a member of the Executive Committee of 100 Black Men of America, Inc., where he serves as the National Secretary. Additionally, Dr. Alexander is a leader of the 100’s Health and Wellness Committee. He also represents the 100 on the Council on Black Health, a coalition of national Black organizations that address issues that impact the health of Black communities. His service as an advisor to numerous community organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area has benefitted young scientists, youth and wellness organizations. He is currently the Executive Director of Youth Movement, a community-based initiative dedicated to improving the health, fitness and well-being of Black children. Dr. Alexander has published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, the Journal of the American Medical Association, the American Heart Journal, and other peer reviewed journals. His research interests include: cardiovascular disease, geriatric epidemiology and child health. He also serves on the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Roundtable on Black Men and Black Women in Science, Engineering, and Medicine.Education: Bachelors Degree, University of California, Santa Cruz, Biology Masters in Public Health, University of California, Berkeley PhD, University of California, Berkeley, Epidemiology Dr. Alexander lives in Oakland, California with his wife Olivia.

Dr. Eric Griggs, MD is … "Doc Griggs” is the health and wellness awareness persona of Eric D. Griggs, M.D., a New Orleans-based Community Medicine Doctor and Health Educator who has dedicated his professional life to raising health and wellness awareness in the communities across the country. In addition to being recently appointed as an Assistant Professor at the LSU School of Medicine, Adjunct Professor for the Xavier University College of Pharmacy and continued role as Director of Community Medicine at Access Health Louisiana, Dr. Griggs proudly serves as the founder and Executive Director of the Doc Griggs Foundation, a community-driven, student-activated and professionally- mentored organization that promotes community health by empowering the community to ‘Get Checked. Mark is Director of Hardware Engineering for Fitbit products and a sponsor of Fitbit's Inclusion and Diversity Initiatives. Mark joined Fitbit in 2011 and has spent the past 10 years working to make everyone in the world healthier. Mark lives in San Francisco with his wife, 10 year old daughter, and 8 year old son. When not working, Mark finds his fit by running and biking the many hills in SF and Marin.
